"Jajaja… ¡Deja de amenazarme! Sé que no tendrías el coraje como para hacer eso. Responderás a mis cartas y a mis llamadas por teléfono. Te apuesto que me extrañarás como un loco… ¿verdad? "

"Te juro que no lo haré. Es una promesa… Este es el precio que tendrás que pagar por dejarme aquí solito… "

Estaba muy equivocada. Creí que sólo bromeaba diciendo que no respondería ni mis cartas ni mis llamadas.

De verdad cumplió… ¡Estúpido JunSu y su estúpida promesa!

Pero como soy una amiga fiel, mantuve intactas mis promesas también.

Siempre me acuerdo de él y doy lo mejor para mantener esta amistad intacta. Nunca dejé de enviarle cartas y regalos de cumpleaños por los últimos tres años. Nunca fallé en agregar cada detalle de mi vida y todos mis buenos deseos para él en cada carta. Puse la dirección de mi casa, mi número de teléfono… incluso los resultados de mis exámenes (algunas veces).

Pero nunca recibí una respuesta suya. Ni una sola vez.

Pregunta: ¿Qué hay con las llamadas por teléfono?
Respuesta: "El número al que usted llama se encuentra fuera de servicio”. Eso fue lo que escuché cuando quise llamarlo la primera vez, justo cuando el avión había aterrizado. Bueno, supongo que cambió su número de teléfono inmediatamente después de abordar mi avión a China. Es muy cruel, ¿no?.

Pregunta: ¿Tal vez se cambió de casa? Por eso no recibió mis cartas.
Respuesta: No… por lo que sé, no lo ha hecho.

Pregunta: ¿Tal vez está muerto?
Respuesta: ¡NO!, no… no está muerto. Se los aseguro.

Pregunta: ¿Cómo sé las respuestas a las dos preguntas anteriores?
Respuesta: Hm… es muy fácil.

¿Ustedes conocen al infame Xiah JunSu de Dong Bang Shin Ki? ¿Ese que adora molestar a los demás? ¿El que es bueno imitando el sonido de un delfín? ¿Ese que la gente encuentra tierno y adorable?

Bueno, ese es él. Mi estúpido y cruel mejor amigo (o al menos, solía serlo), Kim JunSu.

Me mantuve al tanto de sus noticias gracias a internet y a los noticieros.

Sigue siendo tan alegre y molestoso. ¿Pero adorable…? Aish, qué digan lo que quieran.

Además él es feliz ahora. Finalmente se ha convertido en un cantante y ha hecho muy buenos amigos: Micky Yoochun, Hero Jaejoong, Max Changmin, U-know Yunho. Tal vez esa es la razón por la que no me necesita más como su mejor amiga, ¿no es así?

¿Estoy celosa? Sí, lo estoy. Un poquito… porque lo extraño… ¡demasiado!

Pero muy dentro de mi corazón estoy muy contenta por él. Está viviendo una vida feliz y eso es suficiente para aliviar a mi corazón.

Mi teléfono comienza a sonar repentinamente.

Llamada entrante: Park Heebon (mi vecina. Es coreana. Su familia se mudó a China hace seis meses a la casa de al lado. Se alegro mucho cuando supo que viví en Corea y que sería capaz de comunicarse conmigo en su idioma. Nos hicimos amigas en ese entonces. La primera vez que le dije que solía ser la mejor amiga de JunSu se rió de mí. Nunca volví a tocar el tema para que no pensara que soy una fangirl obsesionada de Dong Bang Shin Ki)

"¿Qué ocurre, Heebon?"

"¡Yah! ¡Ri In ah! ¿Recuerdas que me dijiste una vez que fuiste la mejor amiga de Xiah JunSu?" Aquí vamos. Se está burlando de mi otra vez.

"No lo soy" me siento un poquito irritada.

"¡Estoy segura que lo eres! ¡Jaja! ¡Por cierto, tu queridísimo mejor amigo se va a casar! ¿No te ha dicho nada al respecto? Jajaja” Ouch. Eso fue sarcástico.

Espera… ¡¿Qué?!

"¡¿Él se va a qué?! ¿Casar? ¿Cómo lo sabes?" Estoy muy sorprendida después de oir eso.

"Omo… suenas tan sorprendida como si realmente lo conocieras ¡Jajaja! Vamos, revisa las noticias en internet. Compruébalo por ti misma. Jajajajajajajjaja!”

Cortó el teléfono.

Rápidamente salto de mi cama y tomo mi portátil (a k a notebook)

Búsqueda en Google.

Noticias.

Pero los medios y las fans, muy a su pesar, aseguran que la novia no puede ser otra más que Lee Yeon Hee, una actriz que ha ganado popularidad rápidamente y que ha sido vinculada amorosamente con Xiah junSu desde el año pasado, aunque ambos han desmentido desde el comienzo los rumores de estar juntos. Esta sorprendente noticia ha sacudido a la industria del entretenimiento, sin mencionar a Cassiopeia, el fansclub oficial de Dong Bang Shin Ki que hace muy poco consiguió un record Guinness por ser el fansclub más grande del mundo.

Han estado circulando rumores por toda la nación a raíz de las razones que lo habrían llevado tan repentinamente a anunciar un matrimonio. Mientras algunos afirman que es sólo un matrimonio arreglado por un embarazo, otros dicen que están realmente enamorados y desean contraer nupcias tan pronto como sea posible.

Las noticias de su matrimonio han estremecido y deprimido a las fans de Xiah Junsu en el mundo entero y al mismo tiempo acrecienta la curiosidad de todos en relación a su boda. ¿Por qué necesita casarse tan pronto? Tiene tan sólo 22 años y está en la cima de su carrera. ¿No está asustado de perder su popularidad luego de esto? Cualquiera que sea la razón, es Xiah JunSu. ¡Felicidades! "

Tump. Tump. Tump.

Mi corazón está latiendo más rápido de lo normal..

Es increíble ¿no? Generalmente este tipo de noticias no son creíbles en internet ¿verdad? Alguien debió crear esta noticia ¡¿Verdad?!

-Mi teléfono comienza a sonar otra vez y lo contesto inmediatamente.

"¿Qué pasa otra vez, Heebon? Ya leí la noticia. ¡¿Estás satisfecha ahora?!" No sé por qué estoy siendo tan insoportable de repente.

"¿Hola? ¿ Ri In...?" una voz familiar que no pertenece a Heebon está en la otra línea.

"¿¿…Junsu??" Mi corazón va a explotar.

"Si, soy yo. Lo siento-"

"-¿Junsu? ¿Realmente eres tú? "

"Sí, soy yo, Ri In… Disculpame por no contactarte en todo este tiempo… estaba… "

"¿Estabas qué? "

"Estaba… ¡ah! ¡Olvídalo! Sólo quería contarte que-"

"-¿te vas a casar?"

"¿Cómo lo sabes? "

"Las noticias"

"¿En serio? "

"…"

"Ri In ah… Quisiera que estuvieras aquí, presenciando mi matrimonio. Por favor…"

"¿…Por qué debería hacerlo?"

"¿¿¿Porque eres mi mejor amiga???"

"I've told you I wouldn't. That's a promise. That's the price you've got to pay for leaving me here alone by myself…"

"Junsu ah! It's not up to me to choose whether to leave or to stay. My whole family is going back to China and I have to follow them. But I promise you even though we'll be apart by distance, I'll try my best to retain this friendship. I'll never forget you. You should do the same, too."

"Besides, you'll never be alone. You passed your SM Entertainment audition and you'll start being a trainee soon. You'll make a bunch of new friends! Cheer up!"

"But they're not the same as you"

"I know. Because none of them is Jang Ri In. Hahaha!"

I was very wrong at that time. I thought that he was just joking about not going to reply my letters, not to answer my phone calls.

He really keeps his promise. Stupid Junsu and his stupid promise!

But being a faithful friend I am, I keep my promises too.

I always remember him and I try my best to keep in existence the friendship between us. I never stop sending him letters and birthday presents for the last three years. I never fail to insert every detail of myself and my wellbeing in those letters. I wrote down my home address, my phone number… even my exam results (sometimes).

But never that I get a reply from him. Not even once.

Question: What about phone calls?
Answer: "The number you have dialed is no longer in service.." that's what I listened to when I tried calling him for the first time immediately after my plane landed. Well I guess he changed his phone number immediately after I board my plane to China. He's cruel, isn't he?

Question: Maybe he moved away and thus, my letters can't reach him?
Answer: No… he didn't move houses as far as I'm concerned.

Question: Maybe he's dead?
Answer: NO, no… he's not dead. That's for sure.

Question: How do I know the answers of the previous two questions?
Answer: Tsk… That's an easy question for me to answer.

Do you guys know the infamous Xiah Junsu of Dong Bang Shin Ki? The one who loves to bully the other members? The one who's good in imitating the sound of a dolphin? The one whom people find cute and adorable?

Well, that's him. That's my stupid and cruel -used to be- bestfriend, Kim Junsu.

I get to keep in track of his news and updates from the news and the internet.

He is cheerful as ever. He is a bully as he always is. But being cute…? Cute, whatever!

Besides, he's happy now. He finally became a singer. He finally made a bunch of new bestfriends: Micky Yoochun, Hero Jaejoong, Max Changmin, U-know Yunho. Maybe that's the reason why he no longer needs me as a bestfriend of his, isn't it?

Am I being jealous? Yes I am. A little bit…because I miss him…so much!

But deep down inside my heart, I'm happy for him. He's living a happy life and that's enough to comfort my heart.

My phone's suddenly ringing.

Caller id: Park Heebon (my neighbour. She's a Korean. Her family moved to China last 6 months and they moved right next to my house. She was delighted to know that I used to live in Korea and that I'm able to speak Korean. We became bestfriends ever since. But she used to laugh out loud the very first time I told her that I used to be Junsu's bestfriend. I never brought up that matter again in order to avoid her to think that I'm an obsessed fangirl of Dong Bang Shin Ki )

"What is it, Heebon?"

"Yah! Ri In ah! Do you remember telling me that you used to be Xiah Junsu's best friend?" There you go. She's making fun of me again.

"I don't" and I'm feeling rather irritated.

"I'm sure you do! Haha! By the way, your so called bestfriend is getting married! Didn't he tell you about that? Hahaha" Ouch. That's sarcastic.

Wait… what???

"He's getting what??? Married? How do you know?" I'm so shocked to hear this

"Omo… you sound so shocked as if you really know him. Haha! Come on! The news is on the internet. Check it out yourself. Hahahahahaha"

She hangs up.

I quickly jump on my bed and grab my laptop immediately.

But the media and fans unanimously agree that the bride is most likely to be Ms Lee Yeon Hee, a fast rising new actress who had been romantically linked to Xiah Junsu since last year, although both them had been denying the gossips of them being together since the beginning. This shocking news has successfully shocked the whole entertainment industry, not to mention the fan base of Dong Bang Shin Ki a.k.a Cassiopeia which was just crowned with the Guinness World of Record for being the biggest fan base in the world not a long time ago.

There had been rumours circulating around the nation as to the reason why he came out with such a sudden marriage announcement. Some said that it is because of out of wedlock pregnancy and some others said that it is because both of them are really in love with each other and wanted to get married as soon as possible.

The news of his marriage is really shocking and depressing for Xiah Junsu's fans all over the world and at the same time it raises up the curiosity of everybody pertaining to his marriage. Why he need to get married so soon? He's only 22 this year and he is at the peak of his career. Doesn't he afraid of losing his popularity after this? Whatever the reason is Xiah junsu, congratulations!"

Thump. Thump. Thump.

My heart's beating faster than ever.

It's unbelievable, isn't it? Usually, these kind of news from the internet are not really reliable, aren't they? Someone could have made up the news, right?

-My phone is ringing again and I pick it up immediately.

"What is it again, Heebon? I've read the news. Are you satisfied now?!" I have no idea why am I being angry all of sudden.

"Hello? Ri In..?" a familiar voice which does not belong to Heebon is on the other line.

"…Junsu??" My heart's going to explode.

"Yes, it's me. I'm sorry-"

"-Junsu? Is that really you?"

"Yes, it's me, Ri In… I'm sorry for not contacting you all this while… I was…"

"You were…What?"

"I was… ah! Forget it. I just wanted to tell you that I'm-"

"-Getting married?"

"How do you know?"

"The news"

"Really?"

"…"

"Ri In ah… I wanted you to be here. To witness my wedding day. Please..."

"…Why should I?"

"Because you're my bestfriend???"

Es la primera vez que hago una traducción con tanto cariño, y eso se debe a que le tengo mucho aprecio a este fanfic y a su creadora. Significó todo un reto para mi, saben? Fue el primer fanfic que lei completito en Inglés. Nunca antes me había animado a hacerlo porque no me creía capaz y además los fics en español satisfacían mi necesidad de leer lo que mi mente anhelaba con todas sus fuerzas se hiciera realidad. Este fic es uno de los primeros (y únicos) SuYin que he leído, no es que no ame a la pareja, es más bien que no quiero que ninguna otra historia manche los gratos recuerdos que tengo... aish! Juro que si me ganara un premio y me convirtiera en millonaria sobornaría a don Lee Soo Man y le diría "quiero que convierta este fic en realidad!... bueno bueno... en un Drama". La forma en que day_dream plantea a los personajes, como describe cada escena, el cariño y la pasión puesta en cada frase me hace creer algunas veces que no es mera fantasía lo que estoy leyendo *sip, mi mente traviesa quiere que algún día el SuYin se haga realidad*...

Es por eso que decidí traducirla, para que muchos puedan disfrutar de esta maravillosa historia ^^ Espero mantener intacta la esencia del escrito original

It's my first time making a translation with such affection and it's because I esteem this fanfic as well as its writter. It's such a challenge, you know? It was the very first fanfic I'd read in English. Before this I never encouraged myself to read a whole story in English because I thought I wasn't able to do it... also spanish fanfics were able to satisfy my needs of reading something that my mind wished with all its might to become true. This fic is one of the firsts (and only ones) SuYin I've read. It isn't because I don't love the couple (cause I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM), it's just I don't want any other story tarnishes the good memories I have... aish! I promise that if I won the lottery I would bribe Lee Soo Man... Saying something like 'I wish you make this fic come true!... ok ok... could you do a drama's version?'. The way day_dream puts the characters, how she describes every scene, the affection and passion she puts in every word makes me feel sometimes that this isn't just fantasy *yep, my mischievous mind want that SuYin becomes true someday*

I wanted to translate this for all those people who's able to enjoy this fantastic story ^^ I hope I'm able to keep intact the essence of the original writting.
